Complex machined aerospace parts: Keep Your Line Going

Evaero’s raison d’être is articulated in our mission statement:

To manage all aspects of delivering complex machined aerospace parts to our customers on time every time.

Although there is always a story behind every missed delivery, (e.g., drop-in’s, pull-in’s, schedule volatility, vendor failures, etc.) our customers are simply not interested in hearing them. They don’t just want their parts on time; they need them on time and expect us to manage all aspects of our business so they can be successful. Further, if we make a mistake, they expect us to move the earth to make things right.

We accept that mission. It’s why our customers pay us and in turn how my employees and I get paid.

One of our customers recently said they were no longer interested in getting parts on time to our lead time (i.e., OTD), rather they wanted parts on time to when they need them (i.e., OTTR). Most of the parts we make for this customer require long lead items like castings and are managed to a forecast rather than firm fixed orders. Although it took over a year to implement the changes necessary to meet their OTTR expectations, today even by this measure, we’re delivering near 100 percent.

Another customer recently needed parts sooner but they were still being processed by a partnering supplier in Los Angeles. To save time, we worked with our business partner to allow us to inspect and pack the parts in their facility and thereafter drove them to the FedEx terminal so our customer would have them next day. This allowed them to keep their line going and make a critical milestone delivery to their customer.

One more. Two weeks after my son was born, I received a very early morning call from a customer in Europe who had received parts that, due to some assembly issues, needed to be modified. To avoid delay, after working with the customer to come up with a recovery plan, I personally spent the following week on-site modifying the parts myself. Our customer kept their line going and, in turn, made critical deliveries to their customer.

Your job depends on getting parts when you need them. In seeing the world through your eyes, we never have a question about what we need to do. We manage all aspects of delivering complex machined aerospace parts to you on time every time.

We get it. It’s our mission. It’s why we exist.
